Ascension of the Lord 11½" x 10"
The Ascension of the Lord icon depicts Christ ascending in glory within an almond-shaped design known as a mandorla, flanked by two angels. The Virgin Mary stands in the center with the Apostles around her. Christ is shown blessing the assembly with his right hand. It was originally painted in 15th century Russia.
This is a mounted icon without a raised border. Mounted icons are created from quality reproductions of ancient icons and are printed on museum quality art paper with high quality pigment-based inks. The reproductions are mounted on birch veneered plywood and varnished for protection.
All artwork is done in solitude and in prayer, anonymously and with love.
