The Crucifixion 14" x 11¼"
 
This icon of the Crucifixion has pictured by Christ’s side his Mother and Saint John, the beloved disciple. Two mourning angels represent the whole of creation in awe of the mystery of divine love. The skull under the cross is that of Adam who will be brought to life again by the vivifying Blood of Christ. This icon was originally painted in the 14th century at the Moscow School of Painting.
