Virgin of Vladimir is also known as the “Virgin of Tenderness.” Mary can be called the “Virgin of Nobility” because of the dignity of Her humanity and of Her womanhood, where compassionate sorrow and serenity in faith are reflected inseparably. This icon is a reproduction of a Byzantine icon of the 12th century.
These are mounted icons. The background and frame of the icons are made with gold leaf. Mounted icons are created from quality reproductions of ancient icons and are printed on museum quality art paper with high quality pigment-based inks. The reproductions are mounted on birch veneered plywood and varnished for protection.
