Virgin of Vladimir is also known as the “Virgin of Tenderness.” Mary can be called the “Virgin of Nobility” because of the dignity of Her humanity and of Her womanhood, where compassionate sorrow and serenity in faith are reflected inseparably. This icon is a reproduction of a Byzantine icon of the 12th century.
